Exercise Treatment after PNF – re-activating movement patterns

After a stroke, with multiple sclerosis or Parkinson’s disease, movements sometimes have to be relearned. PNF works with targeted stimuli on whole movement chains – step by step and with a plan that you and your family can follow.

For patients and their families

When everyday things suddenly become difficult

A neurological diagnosis changes a great deal. Walking, grasping or keeping your balance may have to be built up again. At the beginning, many patients and their families feel left alone with the question of what happens next.

  • You want to understand why certain exercises are chosen.
  • You are looking for someone who takes their time and involves the people around you.
  • You want to be able to see progress instead of just guessing at it.

What is Exercise Treatment after PNF?

PNF stands for Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation – a neurophysiological concept that addresses the nervous system through targeted therapeutic stimuli. Instead of training individual muscles in isolation, we work with whole movement chains, just as they are needed in everyday life.

Mobility

Work on ranges of movement that are restricted by the condition.

Coordination

Training the interplay of the nervous and muscular systems for more confident movements.

Strength and stability

Building the strength needed in everyday life – when standing up, walking and grasping.

Who PNF may be suitable for

  • After a stroke – rebuilding movement and everyday skills
  • With Parkinson’s disease – work on gait, balance and mobility
  • With multiple sclerosis – maintaining and supporting existing abilities
  • After a long period of immobility – rebuilding after being bedridden or immobilised for a long time
  • With movement disorders – affecting coordination and balance
